Welcome back, I hope you had a nice week so far and are ready for My 7-Step Girlboss Morning Routine. First off, I want to start with why I have a morning routine. A morning routine helps me get prepared for the day and gives me a little me-time before the tasks, and schedules and bill-headaches start. Here it goes:
Step 1: Drink Water or Tea
Drinking water is the fountain of youth, well being and good bowel movements 😉 So drinking water or Japanese green tea (yep, we’re extra over here) first thing in the morning gives your body a chance to hydrate itself after 8 hours of drought (I hope your sleeping at least 8 hours at night).
Step 2: Oil Pull and Brush Teeth
Okay so let me be honest here, I really don’t oil pull every day but at least once a week. It is a really long process (20 minutes recommended). And sometimes, I really don’t feel like putting coconut oil in my mouth in the morning.
If you don’t know what oil pulling is. It is a process where you rinse your mouth with a tablespoon of coconut oil every morning before brushing your teeth for 20 minutes. After that just spit it all out and brush your teeth as usual. It supposed to dissolve all the build-up toxins in your mouth and make your teeth stronger and whiter. So, if you have the patience to oil pull, do it at least once a week.
Step 3: Workout
I use this term very loosely. So, for me working out can be going for a run, yoga or a 20-min workout session. Depending on my mood for the intensity of the workout. By being flexible with what physical activity I am doing gives me a higher chance of doing something at all. The goal is to wake my body up before my tasks.
Usually, I look on YouTube for workout videos. I mainly choose workout videos from Fitness Blender or Blogilates. For yoga videos I always choose a video from Yoga with Adriene she’s my favorite YouTube yoga instructor.
Step 4: Shower
After breaking a sweat a shower is a must. I am aiming to get into the habit of showering cold until now I could only get myself to do that twice. After watching a 30-day challenge of showering cold on Buzzfeed I want to try it myself. The participants noticed healthier skin, hair, an energy boost and a great way to treat a hangover. Step 5: Wash Face With Cold Water
Washing my face with ice cold water after a shower helps to close and minimize the appearance of my pores. It also smooths my skin and prevents wrinkles (at least that is what I heard).
Step 6: Journal
For my morning pages, I use my handmade traveler’s journal. When I started I made lists of what I am grateful for but that didn’t quite work for me. I was at a rather difficult time in my life so I didn’t really feel grateful. So, I started writing down all my worries and reasons for sleepless nights down just to get those thoughts out of my system. With time, it actually helped me cope with all the stress and I was able to sleep a little better.
Step 7: Green Smoothie or Detox Water
The last step of my morning routine is preparing a green smoothie or a detox water for the day. The green smoothie helps with hair and nail growth as well as giving me a head start with my leafy greens intake. The detox water helps with bloating and makes me drink more water since it has a fresh taste. If you would like to see a recipe for my green smoothie and detox water leave a comment down below.
And that’s it for my morning routine. I hope I could inspire you to start your own morning routine for a better start into the day. If you liked this post like share and subscribe to my newsletter. See you soon!
